ta~da! Here is the 6180 mile route our Circle Journal will travel,
Shelley to Claudine to Michelle to Dana to Me to Jenna to Shelia to Elizabeth M to Samantha to Elizabeth W and round we go...
I'm so excited to get the first one!
Week 2 Details ~ At this point we just have our theme and journal chosen. Some over achievers have already begun the journal cover, the sign/theme page, and their own layout. If you aren't there yet, no worries! You have all week until Monday, January 29th when we all mail our journals off into the world. The CJ Route and details were emailed out last Friday night. If you didn't receive the info please let me know!
Here are the amazing, quirky and fun themes we will be working with:
Shelley ~ "The Story of My Favorite Image" Select your favorite photo, whether it's hung on a wall or one that just makes you happy. The journaling should reflect the "why" it is your favorite.
Claudine ~ "Back Where I Come From" Taken from one of my favorite songs. I'm going to look at it from a family history point of view but it can also be about where you grew up etc.
Michelle ~ "Hold Dear" A journal to share the things that are special and important to you, What makes you tick. Things you Hold Dear.
Dana ~ "Quotes" Your favorite quotes, sayings, expressions that make you smile, make you giggle, make you happy.
Andrea ~ "When words fail Music speaks" A quote from Hans Christian Anderson. How does music inspire you? What music makes you happy? Or do a layout about your fave music or focus on one aspect.
Jenna ~ "*L*O*V*E is..." Love lessons, love looks like, what love means to me, I love...etc.
Shelia ~ "Happiness is..." What makes you happy, what brings happiness into your life.
Elizabeth M ~ "Let's Eat!!" Share your favorite recipe.
Samantha ~ "This Journal Brought to you by the Letter C" Pages must have something to do with the letter C...Christmas, Cookies, Color, Cars etc...
Elizabeth W ~ "The 5 Senses" Sight, Smells, Textures that sort of thing. Your most/least favorite etc.
If you have forgotten some of the past info or have not been reading my blog (shame) click here for a little recap.
Tips for this week:
~ Stretch your brain. Think about the themes, get ideas and jot them down. Thats one thing I loved about this last time. As I drove my car, took a shower, whatever, I would think about what my take on the theme would be and how I could portray it. What paper I could use, what stamps might work. Gathering stuff together when I had a few minutes to spare. It was so free-ing to work on something not my own!
~ Communication is nice. If you wont make the mailing deadline just email the person who is to receive it so they know you are behind and can be prepared. This is fun and not stress. So what if we get a couple days behind? Those that can work ahead will do so to make up the time later.
~ Posting on your blog is also nice, but not required. Post "Spoiler Warning" if you do in case someone doesn't want to see what you have done in their journal ahead before it has completed the circle. Me - I always make my Mom tell me my birthday presents before hand. Do you think I would wait for the journal to get back to me?
Here is where I'm at on mine...
I have to say I love my flower of guitar picks. I saw one in the bowl by the door where we toss our keys when we come home and snagged it. Then saw one on the floor in the garage and got to thinking hmmm what could I make out of this...then voila! one popped out of the dryer when I was folding laundry. I had to hunt for the 4th in Alex's room and then he told on me to Tom that I was taking their picks when he saw the little pile I had on my scrap table.
The "sign in" is on the CD so I will enclose a sharpie since it was the only thing that wouldn't smear when I did it.
And the layout...well that is a work in progress!
I have to say that I'm challenged with it and am having trouble finding the focus of what I want to say. So right now I have a little collage going on and looking for inspiration there.
Hope you all are having fun getting your journals going! Have a great week and see you next Sunday for the big Circle Journal send off!
Okay...I am SO impressed with your cover! The guitar pick flower is GENIUS! And how friggin' brilliant is it to have us sign in on a CD?! How fun!!! I'm sure you'll find the focus you need for your page. I know Claudine won't have any trouble...seeing as how she kinda likes...what's his name?...Kenny something? (wink!)
I started my sign in page tonight. Gettin' excited....!

LOVE the cover and that sign in page is awesome! I'm getting excited, too. I know what I'm doing for my sign in page, but I need to go up to the LSS to use a couple things to actually get it finished...
Thanks for posting the route. I'm pretty impressed at the journey our little books will make!
