We have some fun & crafty people signed on for Circle Journal Round 2! Let me introduce you so far...
Shelley ~ Jenna ~ Michelle ~ Claudine ~ Samantha ~ Me ~ Dana ~ Elizabeth
We have room for more so it's not too late to join in! If you are just tuning in click here and here for an update of whats going on.
I'm loving to hear all the themes people are kicking around so far. I don't want to post them in case they are not final but I can say they are some good ones!
I'm tempted to change mine after hearing about other ideas but I will stick to my first ~ music! I was inspired by this book. I should have taken a few pics of the inside of the book to post since it is so cool. It is basically about the art of mixed tapes, making/receiving them, what they mean/meant to each person. I used to love making mixed tapes and only recently learned how to burn a CD. I'm old fashioned, what can I say?
Anyway, I figure with music being the theme you could: make a page with lyrics of your fave song, a collage of music related stuff, a page about a song that means something to you and why, a tribute page to Neil Diamond or Xanadu (yea, I'm talking to you Claudine) or heck you could even write me a song!
We've been emailing a bit so far and here are some answers (or maybe just my contemplations) to questions and comments so far:
Size of journal ~ I suggest to keep it simple by choosing 8x8 or smaller journals. They are easier to mail. Since time is an issue for some, they are simpler to do. Of course you are free to choose whatever you wish. There aren't allot of rules here!
Keep it simple (or not!) it's totally up to you ~ If you are concerned with time or supplies I noticed on the last round a couple people used kits to complete each theme page so they didn't have to come up with fresh supplies each time.
Work in advance? ~ Absolutely! If you have the time and inclination then why not! We will post each theme, size and type of journal so you can brainstorm pages in advance or even complete the layout and then just stick it in the book if it's that kind of journal.
What if I'm out of town? ~ Hey, I will be too at some point and thats OK! If you can work in advance then great, if not, then communication is key. Maybe the next person in the circle can work ahead so when they get the journal they can do a quick turnaround.
Rules? What Rules? OK, there are 2 ~ Rule #1 This is for fun, no stress allowed! Rule #2 if you aren't going to mail on time please let us know so we don't think the mail man lost our precious journal and we imagine it lying in a rainy ditch on a darkened night on the side of the road as we try to fall asleep at night. (Sorry, but I'm my mothers daughter.)
I think we should keep the invitation open through the weekend. Then next Monday, the week of the 15th, we can get started on our own journals! Of course if you are an over-achiever and know your theme you could go journal shopping and start this weekend! Have fun!
And if you are reading this and aren't sure if you should join, I'm going to tell you this...C'mon you know you want to!!
gimme another day or so to think about it. i still have two cj's sitting around from a much older one {shame on me}. but i have been in quite the scrappy mood but when i saw the title of your post in my bloglines, my first thought was music. great minds think alike eh?
i'll let ya know tomorrow!
