it's not too early for Halloween!

While at Michaels last weekend Alex found an end cap display with little wooden beads and the teeniest little ceramic garden pots which they had a Halloween project sheet about. He wanted to make the project so we bought a few things and headed home to create!

We are now addicted and have made about 10 Halloween guys. This was the first batch which are now on display ready and waiting for Halloween.

When we were done he said "I want to make the Einstein one next."

I asked "Do you mean Frankenstein?"

So tonight I'm going back for more supplies!

Do you think this weekend is too early to put up spooky town?

Nah...

what day was this?

"Today was the most awesome-est day of my life! I was nervous at first but it was F~U~N! I wonder what we will do tomorrow??"

was it a day at the beach?

a day at Disneyland?

Christmas?

Birthday?

Nope...

it was the First Day of 2nd Grade!

This morning was a 360 compared to last year. Let's hope the enthusiasm continues!

Texas and killer bees

out of the blue...

Alex: "Hey, can we go to Texas?"

Me: "Sure?"

Alex: "Are there bees there?"

Me: "Yes, I'm sure there are."

Alex: "Is that where the killer bees live?"

Me: "I dont think so."

Alex: "I dont want to go if there are bees."

good to know

Alex on his third slice of watermelon..."I'm going to eat super healthy til the 9th."

Me "Only for 5 days?"

Alex "Maybe til the 8th."

then he walks away....

from Mothers Day weekend

one of my sons friends... "my brother broke his wrist, the one he throws with, writes with and punches me with..."

my son..."Since it's Mudders day I'll listen to you all weekend then when it's over we'll go back to normal, k?"

as he brushes my hair..."I'm gonna make you pretty...your getting prettier every second...do you want some sparklies put in?"

I love him.

at work...

...talking with a new girl in my shop who went to prom last weekend...

Girl - "Did you save your prom dress?"

Me - (gently shaking my head) "Noooooo"

Girl - "Oh, why not?"

Me - "Weelll, it was back in 1987. (thinking to myself, it was also black velvet with rhinestones plus it would be about 3 sizes too small now)

Girl - (pauses and looks at me) "That was the year before I was born."

Me - (putting my head face down onto the counter) " Yes, it was."

about TV rights

In the car and various bickering about who would get what TV when we got home...

Alex: Daddy, you can watch the big TV so I can play Xbox on yours.

Tom: It's my room, Alex, you have your own TV.

Me: (Sigh)

Alex: I don't have my own Xbox.

Me: Alex, you have your own Gameboy and a TV in your room. Thats more than I had when I was 6.

Tom: I didn't have a TV in my room until I was 19.

Alex: Thats because they weren't invented until then.

about belly buttons and aliens

Alex: Do you have a belly button?

Me: Yes, everybody has a belly button.

Alex: Aliens dont.

Me: Well, Aliens arent people.

Alex: Do you think aliens are real?

Me: (thinking about this one) I dont know. Maybe. I know some people think so.

Alex: (Sadly) Well, they all live in New York so I wont be able to see any because thats far away.

on good parenting

Me: Is that Alex crying?

Tom: Huh?

Me: Turn down the TV. Is that Alex crying?

Tom: I dunno.

Me: I better go check. (I run across to the other side of the house.)

Me: (Returning) No, he was playing Star Wars.

Tom: I didnt think he was crying.

Me: Well, what if he was hurt and you didnt go check?

Tom: Because if he was hurt he would just cry louder.

Me: Great.
